The US Open of Surfing has finally commenced in Huntington Beach. The action has been completely off the charts, and the main draw hasn’t even started yet. Two surfers that weren’t invited into the main draw have the chance to qualify into the main draw through a trial. The 48 man trial was made up of some of the best pro-am surfers from around the world. The two qualifiers from the trial were Kalani David (Hawaii) and Miguel Tudela (Peru). The 4 man final for the trial was comprised of Kalani, Miguel, Ezekiel Lau (Hawaii), and Evan Geiselman (USA).
After an intense final, Miguel and Kalani were able to come out with the wildcard spots into the main draw of the US Open. The waves were good enough to get rides in being only 3 to 5 feet. The first rounds of the main draw begins tomorrow, July 27.
